Lashing out at Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das for his "failure" to identify the students who had raised "anti-India slogans", BJP today accused him of "acting" as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) appointee and working under instructions of the ruling party.
"Governor is the constitutional head of the state and is also the chancellor of the university. So how come the VC is yet to submit a report even after the governor had sought it. Why has the VC failed to identify the students who have raised anti-India slogans? What is stopping him to take action against them?" Siddharth Nath Singh, party national secretary told PTI.
"The VC has failed to inculcate nationalism in his students. He is acting like a TMC appointee and is acting on behalf of them," Singh said.
BJP state president Dilip Ghosh, said, "If BJP were in power in the state then we would have arrested the anti-nationals, irrespective of students and teachers, and have pulled them by the collar".
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and Singh will lead a delegation to the Governor house in demand of arrest of the accused who have raised anti-India slogans and submission of report by the VC.
