Talking to reporters, BJP general secretary and legislator Devendra Phadanvis said in view of the Court judgement that the minister's actions related to awarding toll recovery for the Solapur City Integrated Road development Scheme had caused great loss to the public exchequer and were not done in good faith, Kshirsagar had lost moral authority to continue in office.

Phadanvis urged the Governor to sack the minister if he did not put in his papers.

"In order to ensure that the toll contract for Solapur is awarded to old contractor, Kshirsagar cited totally wrong reasons and cancelled the tender of the highest bidder. He called for a fresh tender and the old contractor was given the toll collection contract," he said.

The court ruled that the minister's action was totally illegal to cancel the contract. It observed that Kshirsagar's action was with illegal intent, arbitrary and malafide.

Phadanvis also said that the minister sanctioned permission to construct a flyover on the national highway passing through Beed city without permission from the National Highway authority, State Infra committee.

The Opposition has been criticising the functioning of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), but now even the High Court has made similar observations, he said adding that corruption was rampant in MSRDC. (More)
