BJP demands pay anomalies correction of Delhi govt employees

Extending its support to agitating state government employees, Delhi BJP today demanded immediate rectification of the anomalies in their pay structure.
"Delhi government should immediately understand the existing anomalies in the pay structure of its employees and rectify them. There is need for the Delhi government to study comparative structure of the salary of its employees with those of the central government and immediately sort out the differences," Delhi BJP Chief Vijay Goel said in a statement.
He said that the employees must be given the same benefits that their counterparts in Central government are getting," said the statement.
Earlier in the day, officers and employees of Delhi government staged protest and aired their grievances regarding government's alleged apathy towards their long pending demands related to their salaries.

Goel said the NDA government had approved the proposal that when Dearness Allowance becomes 50 per cent of the basic salary, it would be added to the basic salary so that the employees could get some relief from the inflation.
"The Sixth Pay Commission did not include this proposal and it was gradually forgotten. Today, the Dearness Allowance is close to 80 per cent of the basic salary, yet it is not part of the basic salary," the statement said.
