A day after the Puducherry Assembly was adjourned sine-die without presentation of budget for 2018-19, the BJP today demanded the resignation of the Congress government for 'inefficiency' in getting the Centre's approval for the annual financial exercise.
Where was the need for the government to convene the budget session, which was adjourned abruptly on its second day yesterday, when it had not received the Centre's approval for budget, Puducherry BJP President V Saminathan said.
Tax payers' money had been wasted by holding the session for two days without bringing in a budget, he told reporters here.
Never before had the Puducherry assembly witnessed such a situation where budget was not presented, he said demanding that the Congress government quit owning moral responsibility for its 'inefficiency'.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy had yesterday told the assembly that the approval to the draft budget was awaited from the Union Home Ministry.
The assembly also did not adopt the motion of thanks for Lt Governor Kiran Bedi's address to the house as the debate remained inconclusive at the time of adjournment.
