"Though the government has announced to get sugar mills operational by November 15, it has not announced the cane SAP yet which is not in the interest of the farmers," BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here.
He demanded that in the interest of cane growers the government should fix SAP at minimum Rs 400 per quintal.
"Samajwadi Party in its manifesto had promised that it will ensure profitable price to the farmers. Moreover, the cost of production has increased," Pathak said.
He said senior BJP leaders would address a Mahapanchayat of cane farmers in Muzaffarnagar tomorrow.
"National president Nitin Gadkari, former president Rajnath Singh, state chief Laxmi Kant Bajpai and BJP leader Hukkum Singh will address the panchayat in Kutwi village," he said.
