BJP today denied Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's charge that the party has ordered 10,000 burqas for Muslim women who would attend its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally in Bhopal and said it does not indulge in appeasement politics.
"Congress has been doing votebank politics for the last 50 years. They should be knowing what is appeasement politics. We don't do that. I will be shocked if they do not pick up something about a Modi rally," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters.
She said Congress has been raising such issues and evading questions being posed by Modi.
"Congress is running away from answering the questions that Modi is raising. These questions cannot be answered by the Congress so they are looking for such trivia," she said.
Singh had charged that BJP has ordered 10,000 burqas from Indore for Modi's rally tomorrow. He also claimed to have the bill for this order.
Women in burqas and men sporting skull caps have been a visible feature of Modi's rallies of late. This was seen at the rally in Jaipur recently while there are reports that efforts are on to bring around 25,000 Muslims to attend his rally in Delhi.
