Distancing itself from the Congress infighting in Arunachal Pradesh, BJP today said it has nothing to do with the dissidence among ruling party MLAs that has led to a political turmoil in the state.
"It is an open secret that the ruling Congress conspired a well planned political coup in the state having sensed that rebels in the party will dislodge the government with the Governor advancing the Assembly session to December 16, instead of January 14 next year," BJP state unit president Tai Tagak told reporters at the Arunachal Press Club here.
Tagak's reaction came in the backdrop of Congress blaming the BJP for engineering a conspiracy to topple the Nabam Tuki government.
He further alleged that as part of a Congress "strategy" its senior party leaders were not attending to the grievances of dissident MLAs or coming forward to reconcile or resolve the crisis in the state.
"It is a well planned strategy of the AICC to defame the BJP-led NDA government. The recent political drama presented the people of the state in poor light," he said.
"The rebel MLAs were boycotting a series of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meetings since November 8, which did not draw any attention or disciplinary action. The state is forced to witness unruly behaviour between the two Congress groups," Tagak said.
The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly had last week passed a resolution to "impeach" Speaker Nabam Rebia by a voice vote and signed consent of 33 members, including 20 rebel Congress MLAs, 11 of BJP and two Independents, who had also got together to "vote out" Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
