"Police Tai-Majhi Aai" (policewomen are our mothers) seeks to instill confidence among girls and women to come forward and lodge complaint against their tormentors.
A team of youth BJP leaders, led by their city unit president Mohit Kamboj, met Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti and offered help of volunteers to make the campaign a success.
"We met Deven Bharti sir and presented our plan of action to instill a sense of confidence among women who face harassment and sexual violence, but fail to muster courage to approach the police," Kamboj said.
Ankita Chaudhari, chief of women wing of city BJP, has been asked to deploy women workers across all the police stations for coordinating with lady police officials and the victim.
Kamboj said "Our aim is to wipe out fear among the victims - from college-going girls to housewives to maids - in approaching the police when they are in trouble. Our lady volunteers would swiftly establish a rapport between the complainant and the policewomen.
