"By appointing government officials as administrators of Panchayat bodies, the state government has violated democratic norms and insulted people's representatives," state BJP spokesman Prakash Suman Dhyani said in a statement here.
On completion of the five-year tenure of Panchayat bodies in the state yesterday, the state government had extended their tenure by six months till fresh elections are held, and appointed government officials as their administrators instead of extending the tenure of people's representatives, Dhyani alleged.
Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand have been deferred by two months in view of the mid-June calamity.
