The capital witnessed hectic political parleys in a bid to gain control of its civic body 'Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike', where BJP fell marginally short of majority in the recently conducted polls.
Behind-the-scene efforts to control BBMP have gained momentum amid reports that Congress and JD(S) were planning to join hands to keep BJP out of power.
After one such meeting with JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda, party MLA Zameer Ahmed said, "We have got proposal from Congress seeking to gain control over BBMP with our support, also 7 independents..."
"We are examining the proposal with an intention to keep BJP out of power," he told reporters here.
But, JD(S) state President HD Kumaraswamy after meeting party MLAs and corporators later in the day, said they have not received any such formal proposal yet from the Congress, so "the question of us joining hands with them doesn't arise."
Calling it "a media creation", he said Zameer Ahmed's statement may have been based on proposal made by some friends to him.
