"The Modi government which came to power on May 26 last year has compromised on issues of national security in one year..Instead of consolidating internal and border security, the entire strength of the Modi government has been channelised in polishing the image of the Prime Minister at the international level," AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik told news persons here.
The Congress leader also hit out at the Defence ministry for failing to spend over Rs 28,446 crore allotted to it.
Modi should give a clarification to the nation on the issue, he said.
Despite opposing direct FDI in the past, Modi has now opened doors to all kinds of FDI whereas UPA had talked about it only after due investigation through the intelligence Bureau and RAW, he said.

Pointing out that there had been 746 violation of ceasefire by Pakistan in the one year of Modi government, Wasnik said that during the last year of UPA's rule, 96 ceasefire violations had taken place and Modi had promised that if voted to power he would never allow the country to bow down.
Questioning the Central government's decision to buy 36 Rafale jets from France, the leader said that BJP had raised an objection over it when the UPA had wanted to do the same following which the then defence minister A K Anthony put it on hold.
"Modi should tell whether those objections have been resolved or not and whether the required approval has been taken for it before making an announcement to this effect," he emphasized.
He also criticised the remarks by Prime Minister during his foreign trips saying that this kind of mud slinging on Congress, opposition and the country had never been done by any of the Prime Ministers before and this is most unfortunate.
