BJP govt has failed to deliver promises: CPI(M)

CPI(M) today hit out at the BJP-led Centre on its first anniversary of a resounding victory in Lok Sabha polls, saying the Narendra Modi dispensation has failed to deliver its promises and has been executing the policies of Congress over the past 12 months.
Reacting to the Prime Minister's claims that people's faith in the government and world's optimism about the country was at an all time high, the Left party said it was "only when he (Modi) looks at the country from abroad", while the situation on the ground is different.
"He promised, one, less of arrogance, more of governance. Governance means delivery; it's not only promises and suitable mechanisms. So, whatever wrong was there, that has been continuing... The policy of Congress is continuing.

"On the other hand, (their) arrogance is much. It is a one way traffic. So he is delivering his speeches. It is bhashan, bhraman and bhram (speech, tours, and confusion)," CPI(M) MP Mohammad Salim said on the sidelines of party's politburo meeting here.
On Modi's claim that people's faith in his government has increased, Salim said the Prime Minister should "talk to the farmers who are in distress and committing suicides, and the unemployed youth who expected a lot from him".
He added apart from sloganeering like 'Make in India', nothing substantial is happening for peasants, unemployed youth and unorganized workers.

"The manufacturing, the agricultural sector, the trade, commerce, export, everything in the last one year has gone down. Even though the BJP and some of the media's penchant was for sensex... That is also not looking bright," Salim said adding country is nowhere near to see promises like those of bullet train services realising.
In a series of tweets Modi today claimed that people's faith in the government has increased in the past year and the world's optimism about India is at an all-time high.
The Prime Minister also credited people for this "major" shift and "most resounding mandate" in thirty long years. He also thanked partymen for their efforts.
