Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday that the BJP government in the state was not stained by corruption allegations in the last five years.
He was addressing a rally at Saoner in Nagpur district. Assembly elections are due in the state in September/October.
"Voter is the king for the BJP and we believe in giving an account of the work we did to the voters," he said.
"I am 'mukhya sevak' (chief servant) and not Mukhya-mantri (chief minister)...In last five years, while working for you we did not think of ourselves or our families. We did not open any (private) industries, educational institutes or (created) empire for us," he said.
"We did not let any stain of corruption on us or on our party in the last five years. Every single penny in the treasury was spent for the public," Fadnavis said.
"The BJP (government) has given Rs 50,000 crore of assistance to farmers in Maharashtra in five years in the form of loan waiver. The previous (Congress-NCP) government could not deposit even Rs 20,000 crore in 15 years," he said.
