"This is what happens when you buy such a huge property for a pittance. Law is taking its own course. They (Gandhis) had also gone to the court. Law is equal to the common man and Sonia Gandhi. They cannot hide from it," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters.
In a blow to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and vice president and son Rahul Gandhi, the court earlier today dismissed their pleas challenging summons issued to them in the National Herald case in which they have to appear before the trial court tomorrow.
Hussain also condemned the Assam Assembly Speaker's decision to suspend all BJP MLAs from the House for the entire Winter Session, alleging they were punished for raising the voice of people against rising crime and corruption.
"The Tarun Gogoi government there is covering up crime and corruption. BJP MLAs were thrown out because it did not want them to raise these issues. We respect the Speaker but the Congress had been planning it for a long time," he said.
Claiming that there was no rule of law in the state, which goes to the polls early next year, and that "jungle raj" prevailed there, he said BJP will go to the people to dethrone the Congress government.
He also said BJP would not have any ties with AGP for the assembly polls.
Assam is among the five states that would have assembly polls next year and is seen as the only state where the saffron party is in serious contention to capture power.
