BJP today attacked the Samajwadi Party government for allegedly not providing rain-hit farmers with adequate compensation despite being "issued" funds for the purpose from the Centre.
Addressing a gathering here, BJP national secretary Srikant Sharma said the BJP government at the Centre was pro-farmer and was gradually introducing schemes for them.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only increased the compensation amount for farmers by one-and-a-half times but also lowered eligibility criterion from loss of 50 per cent of potential crop to 33 per cent," he said.
Terming Samajwadi Party as "anti-farmer", he said, "The UP government is not releasing funds for farmers inspite of getting huge amount of money from Centre for this purpose."
He also criticised Akhilesh Yadav government for the "worsening" law and order situation in the state.
Besides Sharma, BJP leaders and former Uttar Pradesh ministers Ravi Kant Garg and Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary participated in the 'Jan Hunkar Maha Pradarshan' rally of the BJP outside the district collectorate here.
