BJP state unit today hit out at Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for making "casteist" remarks at a rally in Mandi area.
"Chief Minister has not reconciled to the defeat of his wife Pratibha Singh from Mandi Lok Sabha seat and instead of accepting the defeat, he is making accusations which raise doubts about credibility of politicians as a class," former chief minister P K Dhumal and state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti said in a joint statement.
Singh had yesterday said that the BJP played "Brahmin card" to win Mandi Lok sabha poll.
The BJP unit noted that before making irresponsible statements to undermine the victory of BJP candidate Ram Swaroop Sharma from Mandi, Chief Minister should ask himself why Congress lost in three other seats.
Condemning the remarks by Singh, the BJP leaders said, "Virbhadra Singh who pursued the politics of regionalism for a long time is trying to fuel casteism to divert the attention of people from failures of his government".
"There was anger among all sections of people and 53 per cent people voted for BJP. It implies that all sections favoured the BJP and instead of blaming any community of caste for his party's defeat, he should review his style of functioning," Satti said.
