The District president of Kisan Morcha Rajkumar Yadav said that since farmers are heavily dependent on sugarcane, they are facing a lot of woes in the wake of low cane prices.
The workers also submitted a memorandum in the name of Governor to the District Magistrate.
"They face sheer injustice when they don't get fair price even after toiling hard in the field under harsh weather conditions which lead to a number of farmer suicide incidents", said Yadav.
Unsatisfied with the cane prices announced by the government, the Kisan Morcha says that the government is against them as they have not even been paid their last arrears.
The Morcha has demanded to increase the price to Rs 350 per quintal, besides giving a warning that if the demand is not met, a big campaign might follow.
