The party's local unit General Secretary R V Swaminathan in a release said when these colleges were allowed to be set up there was a commitment and statutory prescription that each of them earmark 50 per cent of the total seats in MBBS for students sponsored by the government under its quota.
But the colleges have been earmarking only 35 per cent of the seats under the quota and were selling the other seats for hefty sums to students from outside the UT, he alleged.
He said colleges that had converted themselves into deeme to be universities were declining taking in MBBS courses students under quota though such colleges in Tamil Nadu were admitting students under that State government quota.
Swaminathan demanded that Puducherry Chief Minsiter N Rangasamy to intervene and procure justice to students of Puducherry to get the seats as per the government's policy in the Under Graduate courses and ensure that all the seats in PG streamline were available to local students.
