Stepping up its attack on BJD government in Odisha, BJP today accused it of hijacking centrally sponsored schemes like food security programme and asked Naveen Patnaik regime to refrain from such "unethical" practices.
"Everybody knows that BJD government is in the habit of taking credit by hijacking centrally-sponsored schemes and implementing them in the state as its own programmes," senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra told reporters here.
Hitting out at the BJD regime, Mohapatra said an impression was being given that the National Food Security Act was being implemented in the state as its own programme in order to mislead the people.
The state government must refrain from such unethical practises of attempting to hijack centrally sponsored programmes, Mohapatra said.
BJP's reaction came barely two days after distribution of digitised ration cards among beneficiaries under the Food Security Act. While Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik distributed the NFSA ration cards here, other ministers did so in 14 districts.
Coming down heavily on the ruling BJD, Mohapatra claimed that Odisha government has failed to frame any specific rules for implementation of NFSA.
The state government has not formed any redressal committee, he said adding no district level committee has been constituted to look into the grievances of the beneficiaries as per the provisions of the Act.
BJP's diatribe at the ruling BJD came two days after the party staged a 'Satyagrah' across 147 assembly constituencies across the state to highlight the success of the Central government and failure of the BJD regime in Odisha.
