"I sent a letter to the prime minister requesting his intervention in controlling illegal mining and coal theft in Jharkhand, leading to loss of national resources," Das told reporters quoting from his letter.
"This is happening at a time when the state is going through a severe crisis of electricity," the former deputy chief minister added.
Referring to a vigilance probe ordered by the Hemant Soren government to investigate allegations of nexus between some political leaders and police officials in the coal theft, Das expressed doubt in the state investigating agency.
