"This is nonsense. It's wrong to say that Usain Bolt consumed beef and won the medals at Rio," he said.
Singh said political leaders should refrain from making such statements.
"Had this been true, other players from Jamaica should have won the rest of the medals at Rio," he said.
Citing Satpal Singh's success in world wrestling, he said Raj's comments are insulting to an athlete.
"Is a vegetarian not capable of winning a medal or is he not capable of performing well? If he is trying to say it is not possible, then sorry, I don't agree to his statements."
Raj, MP from north-west Delhi, yesterday tweeted that Bolt has won nine medals at the Olympics as he was advised by his coach to consume beef twice a day.
