BJP today attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad for "compromising" with the principles of Jayaprakash Narayan by aligning with the Congress, which not only "inflicted torture" on the socialist leader but also imposed Emergency.
Senior BJP leaders like Union agriculture and farmers welfare minister Radha Mohan Singh, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and a host of other senior leaders spoke at length against the two Grand Secular Alliance leaders at a function to commemorate the anniversary of proclamation of Emergency on June 25, 1975.
"The disciples of JP -Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar- are sitting on the lap of Congress which inflicted torture on JP. If JP's disciples sit on the lap of Congress, then they are the real killers of his principles. Its a matter of shame," Union agriculture and farmers welfare minister Radha Mohan Singh said.
The situation (with reegard to law and order) in Bihar is even worse than what it was during 15 years of rule (of Lalu-Rabri) and if it continued in the current speed, it would soon reach to the situation that prevailed during emergency days, the Union minister said.
He praised the role of RSS during Emergency days and said that country would have become a slave had the saffron outfit not been there.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Modi said that both Lalu and Nitish are "opportunists who compromised with the principles of JP and aligned with the Congress against whom JP fought".
He alleged that for power, Nitish Kumar aligned with Congress against which he fought throughout his career.
People would not pardon Congress for its decision to proclaim Emergency that muzzled democratic institutions, he said while resolving not to let Congress or Congress led any alliance to be successful in its attempt to grab power.
Former state BJP president Nand Kishore Yadav said that Nitish Kumar backstabbed JP by compromising with the principles in order to remain in power.
