An initiative of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the run began from Albert Ekka Chowk here and was held simultaneously along with similar marathons in 1,100 places across the country.
"We began our run from Albert Ekka Chowk as soon as Modi flagged off 'Run for Unity' till Sanik Bazaar," said Saryu Roy, one of the eight-member Committee set up by Modi to collect iron from across the country for his statue of unity project.
Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, ex-Assembly Speaker C P Singh and several senior leaders and BJP activists participated in the run, party's Jharkhand unit's spokesman Pradip Sinha said.
