The incident took place last night when Subash Harad of Sahapur Panchayat Samiti, a former school teacher was attacked by a suspected rival in a 'Haldi' ceremony after a quarrel ensued over power failure in the function.
Police have registered an offence under section 307 of the IPC and arrested one Gajanan Barde in connection with the murderous attack.
According to eye-witnesses the attack resulted out of previous enmity between Harad and arrested Barde, police said.
