BJP MLA's sons booked over youth's death in bar fight

Two sons of a local BJP MLA have been booked for attempt to murder after they allegedly got into a drunken brawl at a bar here, which resulted in death of a 21-year-old man, police said today.
Rohit and Abhijit, sons of Krishna Khopde, were allegedly involved in the brawl last night at a bar-cum-restaurant in Shankar Nagar square area, they said in a release.
Khopde is the MLA from East Nagpur constituency.
The deceased, identified as Shubham Mahakalkar was said to be the friend of the brother duo.
Rohit and Abhijit have been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 307 (attempt to murder), and are currently absconding, police said.
The incident occurred when the brothers were partying at the bar along with their friends. The fight started when the duo demanded slashing of their bill, which the bar owner, identified as Saawan alias Sunny Pramod Bambrotwar, refused, leading to a fight.

During the scuffle, the groups of Khopde brothers and Bambrotwar assaulted each other, resulting into Mahakalkar's death, the release said.
Two counter complaints were registered at Ambazari police station. While one complaint for murder was lodged against Khopde brothers and their 9 to 10 accomplices by Bambrotwar, other was lodged by Khopde's accomplices against the bar owner, police said.
Nagpur is the hometowm of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio.
