Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta has alleged that BJP MLAs were "abused" by ruling Aam Admi Party MLAs in the House today as he sought referring the matter to Ethics Committee.
Gupta said "the AAP MLAs broke all the limits of decency and hurled abuses at the Opposition benches" when he called attention on the plight of homeless people due to lack of night shelters in the capital.
One of the three BJP MLAs in the House, O P Sharma was today suspended by the Speaker from the ongoing Assembly session till Thursday, for using derogatory words against AAP MLA Alka Lamba.
"Alka Lamba approached the opposition bench and not only abused the BJP MLAs but even raised her hand on BJP MLA O P Sharma," the LoP said.
Gupta has demanded thorough investigation into the whole matter including the role of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia for "encouraging" his legislators to "abuse" the Opposition.
He has also demanded that the Delhi Police Commissioner enhanced security of Opposition MLAs both inside and outside the House.
