Metropolitan Magistrate Babru Bhan passed the judgement holding that there was lack of evidence against him and that the prosecution failed to prove the case against the politician beyond reasonable doubt.
During the hearing, the counsel appearing for the MP, advocate R S Jakhar, had claimed that the complaint filed against the BJP leader was false and concocted and there were several lapses in the prosecution case.
In his complaint, the superintendent had alleged that on August 27, 2000, while he was taking a railway officer to VIP lounge, Chaudhary abused him and when he was taking the officer to a train, the politician caught hold of his collar, pushed him and again abused him.
The incident also led to the delay of departure of two trains from the station, it had alleged.
Thereafter, an FIR was registered in this regard and the police filed a charge sheet in the matter under the sections of 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of the IPC.
