The Jantata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) today alleged that BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Ramvichar Netam kept the Election Commission in dark by not disclosing information about a firm in which his wife had served as a director and demanded cancellation of his membership.
JCC spokesperson Sanjeev Agrawal also demanded that a criminal case be filed against Netam.
"In his affidavit filed before the Election Commission in June 2016, Netam didn't mention about Garima Advisory Private Limited in which his wife Pushpa Devi Netam was a director," he said.
Agrawal also alleged that the turnover of the Kolkata-registered company was over Rs 8 crore.
"Netam has been the Rajya Sabha MP since June 2016. His wife became a director of the company on June 13, 2015. She resigned on August 1, 2017. However, Netam kept the EC in dark by not disclosing this information in his poll affidavit," the JCC leader said, demanding that a criminal case be filed against the BJP leader.
Meanwhile, Netam has dismissed the allegations, saying he had furnished all the details in his affidavit.
Conceding that his wife was a director of the company, he said she was never "involved in the company operations and had resigned".
