BJP MP raises in LS issue of suicide by student in Lucknow

Amid the raging controversy over Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide, a BJP MP today raised in Lok Sabha the issue of a suicide by a student in Lucknow University allegedly after being insulted by the management.
Sharad Tripathi said Lovkesh Mishra, a B.Tech student of Lucknow's BNCET college, had committed suicide last week.
He claimed that Lovkesh had taken extreme step after being allegedly insulted by the Head of Department (HoD) for non-payment of fees.
"No one has taken a note of it. Had his name been Khaild or Faisal, then perhaps the Opposition would have taken note of his death...The way it is using Rohith Vemula for votes," said Tripathi while raising the matter.
"The boy belongs to Azamgarh, the constituency of (Samajwadi Party chief) Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is at the helm of affairs in Uttar Pradesh," the BJP member said.
BJD MP Balbhadra Majhi raised the issue of difference between the MRP on medicines and its actual cost and wondered whether such companies were paying any taxes.
He also offered to deposit samples of such medicines before the House, which was declined by the Anadrao Adsul, who was in the Chair and said the Health Minister will look into the issue.
NCP MP Mohammad Faisal, who is representing Lakshdweep, said 45 per cent of his constituency does not have a potable water and the situtaion has become acute.
He urged the Union government to release Rs 280 crore for six desalination plants in the archipalego.
Rajesh Ranjan (Independent) demanded thorough investigation into allegations of rape in Murthal in Haryana during the recent Jat agitation.
