Some BJP workers, including party national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh, were injured in a lathicharge by the police during a law-violation programme at Barasat in North 24-Parganas district today, a claim the police denied.
The BJP in protest has called an half-an-hour road blockade throughout West Bengal tomorrow.
Additional SP Tarun Haldar refuted the BJP's charge and said that the police did not make any lathicharge.
He said that 10 police personnel, including IC, Barasat, were injured in the scuffle.
Singh, who was present during the programme, alleged that the police used lathis in which several partymen, including him, "were injured".
He said that BJP workers organised the programme to protest against the "activities of Jamaat-Ul-Mujahedeen Bangladesh, deteriorating law and order situation and attack on women in the state".
