Bihar BJP President C P Thakur told PTI that the party's agitation in Patna scheduled for November 21 and in rest of Bihar on November 22 was postponed indefinitely.
Accordingly, the visit of BJP MP Prakash Javdekar to Patna tomorrow stands cancelled, he said, adding, the party's agitation programme would go as per schedule in other parts of the country.
Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who visited families of 16 people who died in the stampede, along with cabinet colleagues Nand Kishore Yadav, said, the government will reimburse money to the injured undergoing treatment in various private hospitals.
He said the Home Secretary Amir Subhani has been asked to submit the probe report to the government within five days and based on the findings measures would be taken to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
Acting promptly on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's direction, the district administration distributed compensation of Rs two lakh each to families of 15 stampede victims.
The compensation includes Rs 1.5 lakh from Disaster Management fund and Rs 50,000 from the CM's Relief Fund.
Meanwhile, CPI, CPI-M and CPI-ML in a joint statement here said they would organise a street march in Patna on November 22 to protest against the 'criminal neglect on the part of government and police that triggered the stampede at Adalatghat.'
