A resolution passed at the SP national convention here also said that no government which had implemented GST in other countries returned to power claiming that the Modi government will also face the same result.
"The way in which the BJP used propaganda, misused EVMs, used media to spread lies and encouraged communal flare-ups to grab power...It can be compared to Hitler," SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said.
"The manner in which BJP leaders are alluring opposition leaders and taking them into their party fold is a threat to democracy. It has created an atmosphere of terror. Our Constitution makers had never imagined that a party will be considered bigger than democracy," he said.
Yadav attacked the media claiming that the fourth pillar of democracy was "paralysed" and journalists were "forced to spread lies".

The resolution said that Naxalism was a bigger threat than terrorism, especially in Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Maharashtra, while extremism was a problem in the northeast. No attempt is made to find out the cause and evolve a solution, it added.
"The government is protecting interests of the capitalists. Prices are rising. Any government that implemented the GST never returned to power. The US, Canada and other countries are an example. The fate of the Modi government will be the same," it said.
A number of leaders including Azam Khan, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, Ram Govind Chaudhary, Kiranmoy Nanda and Naresh Agarwal spoke on the resolutions before they were passed.
He said traders were facing hardships due to implementation of GST.
"We have the blessings of Netaji and the youth are with us. The BJP is threatening us in the name of CBI, but we Samajwadis will not be cowed down. The present governments in the state and the Centre have nothing to do with development and people have started realising it," he said. PTI ABN SMI
