BJP today protested the issuance of notices to eight former ministers to vacate their bungalows and said the exercise was aimed at harassing them by the Bihar government.
"It is an outright example of harassment of eight former ministers and an attempt to sully their image as well as that of the party," the state unit BJP chief Mangal Pandey told reporters days after eviction order was served on the former ministers to vacate official bungalows.
The eviction notices served on the former ministers at the behest of the chief minister was illegal as all of them were entitled to houses and could not be removed from their houses without being provided with alternative accommodations, he said.
When asked whether the party would legally challenge the eviction notices or its workers take other methods, Pandey said that all options were open.
The BJP leader claimed that a number of ineligible ruling party leaders and workers had been alloted bungalows beyond their entitlement.
The chief minister had on June 16 last sacked eleven BJP ministers after severing ties with the NDA over the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's elevation as his party's poll campaign panel chief.
