BJP's Nitin Navin raised the matter in the Assembly through a Calling Attention notice.
Leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar and senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav criticised the incident and demanded that strict action should be taken against those involved in the incident to give a message to lawbreakers in the state.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not present in the House when the issue came up.
Unidentified miscreants, who were part of a procession by members of a particular community, had in early hours of Friday partially damaged the statue of the Jan Sangh leader installed at a roundabout in Munger town.

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has alleged that the mischief mongers damaged the umbrella, spectacle and the name plate of the Jan Sangh leader.
Meanwhile, Munger Superintendent of Police Barun Kumar Sinha today said three persons involved in the incident have been identified and efforts were on to arrest them.
Prem Kumar said the incident reflected "slide" in the law and order situation under the JD(U)-RJD-Congress coalition government.
Former Chief Minister and leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), an ally of BJP, also attacked the Nitish Kumar government over the law and order issue.
"Several criminal incidents including kidnapping threat to doctors and others everyday indicated return of kidnapping as an industry in the state," Manjhi told reporters outside the Assembly.
