Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today accused the BJP of resorting to "divisive" politics and "cheap" tactics, and said these were part of the party's "modus-operandi" before any election.
In a public meeting at Shahpur in Kangra district, he accused the BJP of spoiling the political atmosphere in the state by resorting to "hooliganism".
The chief minister also laid foundation stone for several projects in Shahpur assembly segment of Himachal Pradesh where elections are due later this year.
Hitting-out at the BJP and its leaders, Singh said, " My party (the Congress) will never resort to such a strategy in which people are divided on the lines of region, religion and caste."
"It has been the modus-operandi of BJP leaders to resort to cheap tactics of dividing people when elections are round the corner," he said.
Launching a veiled attack on turncoats, Singh said that there are a few leaders who are trying to switch loyalties. They forget that those who "cannot be loyal to themselves, cannot be faithful to others as well", he said.
