A BJP MP today hit out at the CPI-M-led LDF government, alleging that the law and order situation in the state had failed with 18 political killings being reported since it came to power.
"This kind of a large number of political killings in a small state like Kerala reminds me of the brutal killings of innocent Indian citizens by Pakistani militants in J&K," Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP Rajya Sabha MP, said in a statement here.
"The failing law and order and failing economy within nine months of the new government coming to power has proved that the left coalition is inefficient in its governance and disappointing in performance in all sectors," Chandrasekhar, Vice Chairman of Kerala NDA, said.
It is imperative for any elected government to ensure law and order and safety of its citizens, including security of women, he said.
He also slammed chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his reported statement that there was no conspiracy in the alleged abduction and molestation of an actress, recently.
He said it was 'disturbing' to note that the police had arrested 2258 criminals in a week from the state, with Kannur topping the list with 397 from Kannur district alone.

"How can this government, which wanted to get 1850 criminals released from jails ensure safety of its citizens?," he asked.
It was only due to the 'bold step' taken by Governor P Sathasivam, by dening sanction, this plan was thwarted, he said.
The plight of common man had worsened in the state due to spiralling prices of all essential commodities, he added.
