BJP-ruled Haryana is looking to ratify the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill and wants it to be approved by the state Assembly soon.
State Finance Minister Abhimanyu Singh Sindhu today told reporters that the Haryana government was ready to implement the Bill now that it has been passed by Rajya Sabha.
He said the state Excise and Taxation Department was preparing a roadmap for its enforcement as officers concerned have already been trained to implement it.
"Now that the Bill has been passed by Rajya Sabha, the states can complete the procedure in the Assemblies and pass it during the Budget Session in 2017," said Sindhu, indicating that Haryana was looking to ratify it even before that.
Replying to a query, he claimed the states would not incur any revenue loss after the implementation of the GST Bill. He said in case a state suffers losses, the Centre would compensate it for a period of five years from the date of its implementation.
Sindhu claimed that Haryana's revenue generation was on the rise and was better than that of the neighbouring states. It would further increase after the implementation of the GST Bill, he said.
