In reply to a question, BJP's Uttar Pradesh president Laxmikant Bajpai said "the party was returning to its nationalistic stance that was against appeasement of any particular community."

Bajpai was briefing media on the first day of "Chintan Baithak", being organised to formulate a strategy for the 2014 General election for UP.

The two day brain-storming session is being attended by about two hundred selected party workers, state and national leaders.

Issues related to the party, specially need to revamp and strengthen its structure in the light of the present political situation, would be discussed, the state party chief said.

Bajpai also welcomed the Team Anna's decision to explore the political alternative.

"It was the BJP stalwart LK Adwani who had first raised the issue of corruption and black money that was vitiating the national life," Bajpai said.

In the first session, party workers suggested that the membership drive should be taken to all sections of the society and also to the villages, Bajpai said.

It was also suggested that the geographical, political, economic and social conditions of the six distinct regions of UP be considered separately and an action plan prepared for each region separately, he said.

As far as the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections are concerned it was suggested that an important party leader, who was not contesting the elections be stationed permanently in the area to oversee that electioneering.

Bajpai said that BJP would adopt an aggressive attitude and focus mainly on the Muslim appeasement policies of the SP government and its tall election promises that were not being fulfilled. MORE
