BJP's Nirmal Nahta elected as JMC's Mayor

BJP councillor Nirmal Nahta was today elected Mayor of Jaipur Municipal Corporation.
Nahta was elected unopposed by the party councillors in the JMC headquarters here.
A second-time councillor, Nahta said he would work to make Jaipur a clean and smart city and as per the vision of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Nahta after the election met Raje at her residence where she along with the party's state president Ashok Parnami and other leaders congratulated him.
BJP yesterday won 64 out of total 91 wards of the JMC and Nahta represents ward no. 26.
Senior Congress councillor Gulamnabi also congratulated Nahta after his election as Mayor. Congress did not propose any name for the post in the elections.
Results of the elections in 46 civic bodies including six municipal councils were announced yesterday. BJP won 31 of the 46 civic bodies, including five municipal corporations, in Rajasthan which went to polls last week.

In Bikaner, BJP's Narayan Chopra was elected Mayor. He defeated Congress' Suraj Devi Purohit by 30 votes. Chopra got the votes of 45 councillors while Purohit got 15 votes.
Meanwhile, BJP Councillor Chandar Singh Kothari was elected the Mayor of Udaipur Municipal Corporation.
"He was elected unopposed," election officer Chogaram Dewasi said.
