BJP's Shrikant Sharma, 10 others booked for violating poll

BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma, who is the party's candidate for Mathura Assembly seat, and 10 nominees of different parties in this district have been booked for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
"Surprise raids were conducted at the election offices of different candidates in all the five assembly constituencies of the district yesterday. Eleven FIRs have been registered," ADM Ravindra Kumar said today.
Sharma was booked for allegedly using fake passes on his vehicle. BJP's media wing here also allegedly used vehicles without prior permission of the district poll authorities, he said.
While BSP candidate from Mat Assembly constituency Shyam Sundar Sharma was booked for distributing food among his supporters, Congress' Jagdish Nauhar and RLD's Yogesh Nauhar fighting for the same seat have been booked for similar offence," Kumar said.
"In Baldeo Assembly constituency, RLD candidate Niranjan Singh Dhangar was booked for running his election office in a hospital where food was also cooked," he said.
The ADM said SP candidate for Baldeo seat Ranveer Singh Dhangar was booked for cooking and distributing food at his party office in Farah town.

BJP candidate Puran Prakash was booked for distributing food packets amongst his supporters at his election office in Baldeo while his supporter Bhupendra was booked for allegedly organising a dance party at a bar.
Of the 30 FIRs registered against candidates for poll code violations earlier, he said, 18 have been charge-sheeted.
Meanwhile, an FIR was registered against 11 persons at Raya police station yesterday for their alleged involvement in a clash after an election meeting of an RLD candidate.
Mathura goes to polls on February 11, in the first of the seven phase Uttar Pradesh elections, which will end on March 8.
