Responding to the memorandum submitted by P K Kausalya, mother of Jayakrishnan, along with BJP state President V Muraleedharan and others, Chandy said the government would take steps on the matter after examining legal aspects.
State Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was also present on the occasion.
It was the need of the whole state to bring out the real culprits and those who conspired in killing Jayakrishnan, the Chief Minister said adding the government was committed to put an end to political murders in the state.
Kausalya said she was demanding CBI probe in view of the revelation by an accused during the investigation of RMP leader and CPI-M rebel T P Chandrasekheran's murder that those arrayed as accused in her son's killing were not real culprits.
Her plea assumes significances as the UDF Government plans to re-investigate some of the political murders since 1980's based on tips obtained during the probe into the murder of Chandrasekharan and the controversial speech of senior CPI(M) leader and former party Idukki district Secretary M M Mani.
BJP had alleged CPI-M conspiracy behind the murder of Jayakrishnan.
