The winter session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly today started on a stormy note with BJP staging a walkout after its adjournment motion seeking prompt discussion on corruption cases against the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was rejected by the speaker.
As soon as the House assembled and the speaker BBL Butail proceeded with question hour, BJP members including leader of the opposition P K Dhumal were on their feet demanding admission of their adjournment motion.
Former minister and BJP MLA Rajeev Bindal asked the Speaker about the fate of the adjournment motion to discuss a "very important" matter relating to registration of cases against the Chief Minister by CBI and the ED issuing summons against him.
BJP members staged a walkout as the Speaker rejected the adjournment motion, maintaining that the matter was subjudice and pending in courts.
Alleging that the government was running away from discussion, BJP members started raising slogans as the Speaker started the question hour.
"This is first time in history of Himachal Pradesh that raids were conducted against sitting Chief Minister and now he has been summoned by the ED for interrogation. What could be more important for the state than debating an issue involving a person leading the government.

"The media has been highlighting the issue prominently and the image of the state has been dented. The chief minister has no moral right to continue" Bindal said.
When Parliamentary Affairs minister Mukesh Agnihotri quoting the rules opposed the demand for discussion on adjournment motion, angry BJP MLAs Ravinder Ravi, Randhir Sharma, Rajeev Bindal and Suresh Bhardwaj rose on their seats and tried to stall proceedings.
When the speaker called for the questions, Bindal announced that since the government was not willing to allow the opposition to debate the issue, there was no option but to stage a walk-out.
