Opposition BJP today staged a walkout from the Assembly alleging that Karnataka government was trying to cover up an alleged scam where fake bills were created without executing the work in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Assembly constituency here.
BJP Leader Ashwath Narayana who raised the issue during question hour said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, instead of answering his question regarding the 2014 issue had replied about some irregularities in 2011.
Responding to this, Siddarmaiah said the question does not specify any particular date; hence this reply has been given on the issue which is under progress. The question asked by the member is not specific, he said.
BJP leaders Jagadish Shettar and R Ashoka objected to the CM's response, alleging that government was purposely not responding to the question as they are trying to 'hush up' the issue. This resulted in argument between government and the opposition.
Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa intervened and tried to bring the House to order and said he would ask the government to respond on another day, adding, the member should be specific with the question.
Not convinced, BJP alleged that the government was deliberately trying not to respond to the question as it wants to shield those involved in irregularities.
BJP MLAs then staged a walkout from the house, led by leader Jagadish Shettar shouting slogans against the government, alleging that it is helping the 'looters'.
