The AAP today alleged that several BJP-ruled states have splurged a huge amount of taxpayers' money on advertisements to "glorify" the Modi government on its third anniversary.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led party, during a press conference here, demanded that the total money spent on such advertisements be recovered from the BJP.
"Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, among other BJP-ruled states have issued large advertisements to celebrate the Modi government's three years in power. Why is taxpayers' money paid to state governments being splurged to glorify and celebrate a Central government," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was quoted as saying in a party statement.
He alleged that Rs 2000 crore was being "splurged" by these BJP governments to mark their party's government third anniversary at the Centre. "This is criminal misuse of taxpayer's money," he said.
The AAP demands that this "Rs 2000 crore be recovered from the BJP," Sisodia said.
He further alleged, "These are the same states that are shutting down government schools, hospitals and are running out of medicines. They are splurging money when it is not even an anniversary of their own respective government."
"We will take this up with the committee that has been set up to monitor the AAP government's ad spends, and also take with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India," Sisodia said.
