A senior Congress leader today hit out at the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, saying the saffron party thinks about welfare of minorities only when elections are around.

"I want to know from the BJP what prevented it from doing something for minorities since 2008 and why all of a sudden it has started thinking about them," Gufran-E- Azam said at a press conference here.

Azam criticised the BJP for its conference scheduled here on September 25 as part of its efforts to woo Muslims ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
