Assailing BJP and Trinamool Congress for their "silence" over Saradha scam and Narada sting operation, CPI(M) state secretary Suryakant Mishra today said both the parties are two sides of the same coin.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing nothing regarding the Saradha scam, he said, adding,"what prevented the Centre from ordering a CBI probe into the Narada sting operation, while Trinamool Congress will expectedly not take any initiative."
The Narada sting operation, which allegedly revealed some TMC leaders accepting money, has shamed the people of West Bengal, Mishra said, adding it was surprising that the party supremo Mamata Banerjee was not at all ashamed.
Asked why CPI(M) and Congress did not jointly seek the matter to be referred to the ethics committee of Upper House as it allegedly involved a TMC Rajya Sabha MP, he said the Chair had ruled that it depended upon the government which was run by the NDA.
The matter had been sent to the ethics committee of Lok Sabha but none of the members of the panel were given notices even now, Mishra said.
"The polarisation in the state created by BJP and the TMC was threatening the secular fabric of West Bengal and there is a spurt in the growth of organisations like RSS and other minority groups in the state under the active patronage of the government," Mishra said.
Asked to comment on the Left Front-Congress alliance for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state, Mishra said this was done to suit the present conditions in the state.
"We are jointly calling for the ouster of the Trinamool Congress from West Bengal and the nature of the alliance is Left, democratic and secular formed to restore democracy in the state," he said.
Regarding Singur, Mishra said if the Left Front-Congress alliance came to power then it will withdraw the legal case filed by the state government against the Tatas.
