BJP will intensify its ongoing membership drive in Jammu and Kashmir and aims to make 11 lakh people its member by the end of the campaign.
"The party this time has secured more than 10 lakh votes and now we have setup a target of registering 11 lakh members during the ongoing membership campaign in Jammu and Kashmir," General Secretary (Organisation), J&K BJP, Ashok Kaul told reporters here today.
The campaign will end on March 31 this year, Kaul said, adding that BJP was getting unprecedented response as more and more people were voluntarily coming forward to become a member.
The party will also undertake special drive during this month on February 14 and 15, wherein party leaders and activists will camp at their respective polling booths on both days to register people as its members, he said.
The special drive would also be undertaken in mid-March before the campaign closes, he added.
Elaborating about the exercise the party would undertake after March 31, Kaul said during April, May and June mass contact programmes under "Maha Sampark Abhiyan" would be conducted, in which central leaders as well as state leaders would visit the mandal and other units to personally interact with the people and seek their suggestions to further strengthen the party.
Senior BJP leader, Ramesh Arora said we have tracked a long distance from the days of Praha Parishad, many people have sacrificed their lives and today we have created history by winning record 25 seats in the state assembly.
He said we have to reach the masses with the principles, ideology and work culture of the party during the ongoing membership campaign and mobilise their opinion in favour of the party while keeping in mind that we have to achieve the said target in the fixed time.
