"BJP resolves to fight for women's empowerment. It is the only political party which has all along stood for gender equality and empowerment at par with men at all levels and in all spheres," BJP state unit chief Jugal Kishore Sharma said.
He was addressing the inaugural session of State Working Committee Meeting of BJP Mahila Morcha here.
Sharma said it was because of BJP's role in the assembly and outside, including its two successful attempts seeking legal remedy from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in 2004 and 2005 that the daughters of the state should not be discriminated, that they were granted the same rights which were available to male subjects of the state.
However, BJP's task was not over as the children of the daughters married outside the state were not entitled to citizenship rights in the state like their mothers. forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said.
BJP State Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria said women play a very important role in the family and they should make sure that feelings of nationalism, brotherhood and following culture are induced among the young generations and future citizens.
