Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today expressed confidence that the BJP would form governments in all the five poll-bound states, including Uttar Pradesh.
Dates of Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand have been announced and the saffron party will win the polls in all of these states, he told a press conference here, adding that there was a "wave" in favour of the BJP.
To a query on pre-poll surveys hinting at no clear mandate for any party in Uttar Pradesh, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said the BJP believed in "post-poll surveys".
As regards the effect of demonetisation on the upcoming elections, he cited the examples of the recent civic body polls in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP had won.
Rudy said, as promised during the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to eradicate black money and corruption, demonetisation was "part of the action" taken to address the menace.
The people of the country had supported demonetisation as the country was moving towards a cashless society, he claimed, adding that the government had taken the initiative to unearth the black money stashed by Indians in overseas banks.
