BJP today said it would not tolerate a "non-performing" Congress government in Karnataka and would aim to free the state from its clutches.
"The government should perform or go," party General Secretary in charge of Karnataka affairs P Muralidhar Rao said here today.
He said BJP was in consolidation mode in the state and an intensive membership drive was on.
After winning elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, BJP also wanted Karnataka to be in the party's fold, he said, adding, people have accepted BJP as a national party cutting across political lines.
Party's vote share had increased by nine crore since the 2009 elections. The youth of the country had contributed to the increase in the votes after the party took initiative to enrol them as members, he said.
Rao said he hoped that BJP would become the largest party in terms of membership, beating even the Chinese Communist Party.
The party would now focus on strengthening its presence in states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Eastern states like Bengal, Assam and Odisha, he said.
